Creative Overdrive

I seem to be in creative overdrive at the moment.
More so than usual.
I made this little blessings doll which was inspired
by a class with Carol Murphy.

These are wrapped dolls and the base wrap
is made up of fabric that I handpainted.
It is then written all over
in the way of positive words and affirmations

and then torn into strips ready for wrapping.

Little messages can also be wrapped inside the doll
which are focused on the person who you plan to gift it to.
I loved making her.

I've also been altering boxes.
I'm taking part in an altered box swap
and couldn't help doing an extra one.
This is before.

And this is after.

I made the flower on top from materials
including vintage white lace
that I got from a friend as part of a swap.
I had two copies of a book on ATCs
and wanted some mixed media ephemera in return
She sent me this,

Thanks again, Kerri!

I had plans straight away for the lace
which I spritzed with several colours of cosmic shimmer.

Combining it with a sample sheet of Lutradur
that I handpainted and cut into flower shapes
made for some colourful blooms.

What else? Yes, I was part of a candle mat swap
and received this beauty from Ashlee.

Cherry blossom tealight holder.
A quick, ten minute napkin art project.

And last but not least, I have to show these.

I love the grunged up, shabby look of the tins themselves and the images.
They were only 99p each from Nauticalia's bargain bin.
They are also a decent size, not tiny little things
and I think they may be just too pretty to alter.

Stylish!

Apparently, I am a stylish blogger! Well, at least, according to Agi!

The rules of the award are:

a) Thank the person that awarded you:

Thank you, Agi! xx

(b) List 7 things about myself:

1. I'm addicted to learning. I suppose you could say I'm a perpetual student. In the last few years I've been addicted to learning arts and crafts and my ambition is to try as many as I can during my lifetime.

2. I'm a bit like a butterfly. I flit from one thing to another.

3. I love vintage, grunged up, shabby chic, steampunk.

4. I try to look for the exceptional in the ordinary.

5. One of my favourite things is a walk in the countryside (autumn is the best time for me) followed by a cream tea in an olde worlde tea shop.

6. I left home aged 16 so I grew up quickly.

7. Earl grey is the only tea I will drink.

(c) Pass the award to 15 other stylish bloggers:

A Diva and a Spring Ensemble

The altered bottle is now finished
and transmogrified into a diva
before my very eyes!

For close up views, you can click on any of the images.

The old postage stamp with the bee on it was a great find
and so fitting for a queen bee type of diva!

I knitted this lace doily for a spring candle mat swap.
For the candles, I used napkin art
and burned the daffodil image from a paper napkin
into the candles with a heat gun.

More Baking!

More baking of polymer clay with particular projects in mind.
It's nice to have them to hand when needed.
